With bright bold lips on all runways this season, we’re getting ready to show off ours. Some lip maintenance is needed before we do that though. Read our tips below for your guide to healthy prepped lips for this season’s trendy lip colors.

- Use lip balm daily to moisturize your chapped lips, especially when outdoors. The hot sun and the dry cold air contribute to unhealthy rough lips. OUR FAV PICK: Neutrogena’s 6-hr Lip Balm Protection
- Eat healthy food full of vitamins, minerals and fiber such as green vegetables and fruits. Vitamin E and Omega 3 are great for the skin. While a good lip balm can prevent your lips from getting dry, a healthy rich diet is as important, if not more, as it is regenerates your skin and hence lips
- Try going for lipsticks that contain moisturizers and SPF protection (rating of 15 or higher)
- Massage your lips with olive oil or almond oil. Usually, such oils add hydration to your skin and moisturize it
- Drink lots of water to avoid dehydration and your lips from drying up
- Exfoliate your lips to remove dead skin. This can be done by using lip moisturizers or brushing your wet lips with a soft toothbrush before going to bed
- Refrain from smoking. Although smoking is a hard habit to break, but the tobacco in the cigarette can seriously cause your lips to darken and be chapped
