Different people from different walks of life respond to various types of exercise routines. Some prefer to trek or hike while being surrounded by nature, while other would opt to be inside the gym or on the treadmill in the comforts of one’s home. But there is one exercise that everyone will benefit from and will enjoy doing, whatever the time and wherever the place – walking.
If one is targeting to lose weight or just to keep oneself in shape, it is recommended to walk at least 30 minutes a day, every day. There is no maximum or minimum walking speed, nor is there a required distance to cover. It is, however, important to keep in mind that one pound of fat is equivalent to 3,500 calories and if one wants to burn this fat in a week, one should be able to use 3,500 calories more than they consume. Normally, burning 1 to 2 pounds of fat a week with increased activity and decreased eating is a feasible target for those wanting to stay in shape and lose weight.
So don those fancy track suits and comfortable trainers and start walking for a healthy lifestyle.
